Imaginarium 2024 Update

I just got back from my first year at Imaginarium. What an exciting (and exhausting) time it was. I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with many other authors and creators, and especially enjoyed my panel on worldbuilding, where I got to share a lot of my experience in this area. The discussion ended far too soon for my taste, and I plan to write a few articles here on the topic of worldbuilding, based on some of the questions people were asking me at the convention. There is certainly a lot to say, and some of it has to do with my favorite author, Tolkien.

I also discovered the work of an amazing visual artist at the convention - Brett Gray. I am a complete fan of his style and choice of subject matter. Please do give his work a look: https://www.brettgrayart.com/ He is also a wonderful person to talk to, and he has a degree in English Lit! I may have to try and collaborate with him sometime, as his visual style would complement my writing perfectly. But he is quite the busy man. I did manage to snag two pieces of art from him, which I will be proudly hanging in my office at work.

While I had much to teach when it comes to writing, I had much to learn about marketing and promotion (two things I am terrible at). Going forward, I am going to work on doing book signing and other types of things to get my work out there more, so for those who are local, keep an ear out for upcoming events!
