The Archaios Mythos

The Long Night looms, but a spark of hope endures.

Eight centuries after The Reckoning shattered the bond between gods and mortals, the world of Archaios teeters on the brink of despair and redemption. At its heart lies a tapestry of warring peoples, forgotten powers, and eternal truths waiting to be reclaimed.

A World Shaped by Destiny and Shadow

In the frozen wastes of Hrimland, the Gothalingas carve their destinies with iron and blood under the pale light of a sunless sky. To the east, the Kratians cling to the crumbling remnants of the Astelan Empire, their wisdom tempered by ancient tradition. To the south, the Vrenlingas seek their place among gods and myths, walking paths shaped by the celestial echoes of their own making.

Yet all are bound by the Reckoning—a cataclysm that shattered the bridge between mortals and the divine, casting the world into The Long Night. This is a world of stark choices, where hope flickers like an ember and destiny calls the brave.

The Peoples of Archaios

Across the frozen expanse and beyond the shattered realms of the Astelan Empire, the peoples of Archaios forge their lives amidst gods and legends. From the fierce tribes of Gothamark to the disciplined Kratians of the east, every culture bears the scars of The Reckoning and shapes the destiny of the world in their own way.

  • Gothalingas: Fierce seafarers and raiders, the Gothalingas of Gothamark live by tala, their belief in destiny, and the guidance of Vikaldr, the shadowy god of wisdom and fate. Masters of the whale-road, they raid distant lands for glory and plunder, honoring their tribes but keeping outsiders at arm’s length.

  • Vrenlingas: Descendants of a Gothalinga tribe, the Vrenlingas forged a sophisticated society in the temperate lands of Gerravren. Rooted in law and tradition, they balance martial strength with Astelan-inspired governance, standing as a bridge between the chaos of the north and the order of the fallen empire.

  • Kratians: Once the heart of the Astelan Empire, the Kratians now dwell in fractious city-states. Kanayama thrives on trade and learning, while Arista upholds discipline and martial strength. Masters of philosophy and war, the Kratians struggle to balance their ancient glory with the weight of their fading ambitions.

  • Rumelians: Fierce and divided, the Rumelians are bound by blood and battle. From the city of Daos, famed for its trade guild and silver, to the mountain clans wielding greatswords in hit-and-run raids, Rumelians are warriors and survivors, guided by the wild ascetics who prophesy amidst chaos.

  • The Agadian Empire: An ancient and diverse empire, Agade reveres Eshanaja, the official goddess of its state religion. The Emperor, her divine representative, claims dominion over the civilized world, framing all trade as tribute and all gifts as blessings from the imperial throne.

The Cosmology of Archaios

At the heart of Archaios lies Asa, The One, the source of all existence. From Asa emanate the Aionani, godlike beings who once walked among mortals, and the Kisūnarkani, celestial messengers now trapped between realms since The Reckoning severed the mortal and divine. This is a world where fate and free will intertwine, and the echoes of divinity shape every path.
